Who are you?
My Name is Sam. I’m 28 years old and live in California. Currently in Chico, CA, attending CSU Chico.
What do you do?
I attend classes at Chico State in the pursuit of a degree in Commucinations Design:Internet Communication. My minor is Management Information Systems, and I am also working towards a SAP Certification. I hope to use my lessons and experiences here at Chico State to propel me into getting a job doing User Experience, Web Development, or something Web oriented. Also, I hope to get a Masters related to Information Architecture, or a MLIS (Library Science) degree and rock the Library world with profound changes to shave libraries. Why MLIS? Because…
I am also an employee of the City of San Jose. I work at the West Valley Branch of the San Jose Public Library system. Its an awesome job, with awesome people. A little tedious shelving and checking-in books all day, but its definitely nothing that you can really complain about. I enjoy going into work and working with the people there, and I don’t feel stressed or burnt out when I leave, so I’m happy.
Anything else you do?
I play my Nintendo Wii, and hangout with my friends. Generally I’m trying to work on my own web projects and finish up a few other projects I’ve been contracted to do.
My current passion is Running. My friend Romano recruited me to run a 10k in July of 2007, and I’ve been hooked ever since. To date, I have run four 10ks, one 1/4 Marathon, and two 1/2 Marathons. My goal for this year was to do four 1/2’s, but sadly I was not disciplined enough to get there. I still have 5 months left in the year, and I will be completely at least one more 1/2 (totalling 2 this year) and one more 10k. If I happen to see other runs I can do the mean time, mostly 10ks, theres a good chance I’ll be doing those. For now, I’ll be working on trying get my running miles up, and training early for my first Marathon next year. Which Marathon? Not sure yet. Music
Likes: Minus the Bear, Broken Social Scene, Ladytron, DJ Tiesto, Party Ben, and pretty much all House/Trance/Dance/Club stuff, as well as a smattering of Indie stuff.
Dislikes: Most Country (modern Country = Alt Rock with a ‘twang’ or violin).
Misc
I am currently developing a website for a buddy and his T-Shirt business. Info and links to it will come once everything is done. I hope to use this experience as a stepping stone into getting into the Web Development field that I am interested in. I also want to travel more, and pretty much fell in love with Seattle, WA when I went to visit a friend. I also want to ensure a secure, safe, and fun future for myself and my future wife, and be able to afford many nice things for my family, as well as be a great dad. I’m also a pretty mushy kind of guy, due to the Cancerian Emotional control that I’m plagued by, and am mistaken for a male of the “gay” persuasion. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but I am NOT gay … ladies.
