Some changes
Poser August 8th, 2008
Well, I’m back in Chico, where its slower paced, relaxing, and hot. Its my final year of school up here, and its my final time here that has begun with some changes…
Before we get to the changes, we’ll start with a brief re-cap of my summer.
I went back down to San Jose May 27th, the Tuesday after finals were finished, and after a fun few drunken nights weekend. Spring 2008 was pretty good semester, some tough classes, but my Ballroom Dance class was more fun than I could have imagined, and made up for all the other crap that happened. I managed to squeeze out another semester on the Deans List with a 3.571 gpa. That brought my cumulative GPA up to a 3.105 total, which I’m happy with. I don’t think I’ve ever had a an above 3.0 gpa, and went I left West Valley, I transferred over with a 2.6 something, so I feel I did well to improve my school career.
After arriving in San Jose from Chico I relaxed (very well) for a few days, then started up working at the Library again on that following Friday. It was great working with all my friends again, and making some new ones as there were some new employees at my branch that were not there when I left for Chico. So hi to Duy and Hang! Also hi to Citra, who I met before, but was a pool employee now turned permanent. Duy and Hang are the new girls.
And so work was all I did over the summer. I got to see a lot of family, and a lot of friends, and hang out with a bunch of people. Mostly my time consisted of 30+ hour work weeks, with going home to relax and watch tv before crashing to bed, only to wake up and work again the next day. A benefit to some much work is that my internal clock has shifted some, I sometimes still stay up late at night, but I was mostly in bed around midnight and up at 730ish for work. The clock shift caused me to wake up around 10.30ish on my days off, which is better than 1 or 2 in the afternoon. And now that I’m in Chico, I’m still going to be around the same time, and waking up around 10 – 10.30.
So that leads us to Chico, which so far has been nothing but relaxing. Got here on the 5th of Aug, saw James and Ali, went food shopping, made dinner and invited Mario over. Then ofcourse James left for a small vacation to Ventura the next day, Wednesday, but that didnt stop Ali and from going to see Pineapple Express! Seriously funny, that everyone should see, and that shows Judd Apatow has still got it. Thursday was relaxing with a leisurely wake up, and a 4 mile run (which started out as a two mile, then went to three, then four), and deliveries. I dropped off tortillas for Alex and Maritizi, then headed over to Starbucks to see Kelly, and hung out there till she got off work. We both made a quick trip to Cost Plus World Market for some wine buying, then split ways. I got home and grabbed a quick dinner, then hung out with Alex, the old roommate, at the Downtown Chico Farmers Market. After the market, caught the last season Finale for “So You Think You Can Dance”, and then went to bed early, cause I had a headache.
So that brings us to today, August 8th. 8-8-8, I guess which is a really lucky number, and the first day of the Olympics. To me, its just Friday, and part of the start of the changes, which there arent a whole lot of really. As I’m sure you noticed (probably not), the title of this blog went from “Poser’s Log”, to “Sam’s Running Log”. Thats because I’m now making this side the home of my running log, which any good runner should keep. This will hopefully keep me more interested in actually blogging! Which I know I said before, but I never really had a purpose for this blog, nor a direction, and with running and my passion for running, I think I can actually do it. It helps I got a Nike+ for my iPod, and “hacked” my armband to fit the adapter that connects to my iPod. (Said hacking involved cutting a hole in the bottom of where the iPod goes, so the adapter fits through.) My next posting, probably in a few hours time, will be the start of the running logs. I’ll update with my 4 mile run from yesterday, and tell you about the Nike+ stuff.
Other changes, I forget. I’ll be working on a new color scheme for the blog, and shift away from this default palette from the theme, which IS a pretty awesome theme. I’ll be running more, hopefully everyday. Yup, everyday. I’ll have my training runs, and in between I’ll go out for a quick 2 mile run. Additionally, I should be posting more about my workouts. I want to get a stability ball, and start doing core workouts, and tighten up my abs and stuff. And once I get my bike back from Alex, I’ll be doing some biking too. In between I will be posting random stuff not run related, but I guess we’ll see how keeping a runners log will work for now, and then post whatever. In the meantime, I apologize for this lengthy post, and making you read a whole novel. Future posts shouldnt be as bad.
Also, this post was briefly spelled checked, and hardly grammar checked, due to lack of interest in proper writing and not having an English degree.
