The Switch

I got me a MacBook Pro, and its awesome! Oh, and I’m back at school…

So I made the switch, and got an Apple MacBook Pro (MBP) as a replacement laptop. My last laptop was a DELL, and while it was pretty good for the first few years, it was dying on me. I have to have the screen replaced twice, the video card twice, and hard drive once in the  years I had it. Making the transition from a Windows based platform to the Mac OS X has been pretty damn easy. While I am no “power user”, I am a slightly more advanced user than a beginner, so having to find OSX replacements for some specialized software was pretty easy. I’ve enjoyed the smoothness at which programs are installed, and removed, and I feel my productivity is just as efficient as before. I also managed to get BootCamp working, so my MBP is running both OSX and Windows Vista. Which is awesome, just incase I’m on the go and need something specifically for Windows, like my Oracle stuff for a Database class.

I got the MBP for school, which started on August 27th. Its been ok so far, and I enjoy my schedule. Some classes will get tough, when the work load increases, and later in the semester, I’ll be bogged down with tons of work. Why is that? Because I’m currently taking 18 units! Yah, ouch. One is an online class, so thats even worse, because I’m not the best online class doer person. Wish me luck!
Oh, and I got a new apartment with my buddy James. Its been working pretty damn well. We get along awesome, and well, yah, no roommate craziness.

And while the luck wishing is getting handed out, I have a 1/2 marathon in little over a month. So wish me more luck with that. 13.1 miles, are for fitness. Yay! The 1/2th I’m doing is the San Jose Rock N Roll, and its gonna be a blast. A bandstand every mile, with music and all that jazz, plus cheerleaders. woo woo! I’ve been trying to train since after my 10k, and ended up injuring my right knee pretty bad. Since then, I’ve done some light running, and took a few weeks off due to the move up here to Chico. I started running again this last week, and I’m doing pretty damn good. I managed to finish and 8 mile run last Sunday, and very minor pain afterwards. I try not to go too fast, as I think that is what contributed to how I injured my knee. Too much too fast then, slow and easy now.

All in all, a pretty awesome start to my Fall, following a so / so summer. So I think this school year is gonna be pretty rad.
