Week 1 : Aug 20 -Aug 26

Today we begin a new series on Chawposer.com, the Week in Review. A recap of the events from the previous week, a short list of events coming up, and any other thoughts and feelings about having moved to Chico for school.
Sunday – Arrvied in Chico after a great morning breakfast with parents and aunt and uncle. The drive over wasnt too bad, though I felt much more scared and sad the further was from San Jose that I got. I eventually made it safely and just hung out after putting my desk together, cleaning up a bit, and general rearranging of the room. Then went to bed early for my first day of classes on Monday.
Monday – First day of classes! Got up earlier for class, really early. First class didnt start until 11am, but I was up at 9.30 heh. Took my time getting ready and showering and all, and felt the butterfly’s in my stomach get bigger and bigger the closer to class time it got. Left a little early and went to a shop on campus to get a morning drink, Pink Lemonade Snapple. Drank that while looking for class, found it, went to class, and left after 10 minutes. Yah, so its Syllabus week and really all we did make was sure we were in the right class and left. This is the standard for pretty much every class I went to this week.
Well my Second class of the day wasnt until 7pm, so I had quite a break and figured I would make a run to Target for stuff I needed. Well we both know how that went. Flat tire, yay! Bleh, So in leiu of doing errands I just hung out all day, cleaning my room more, took a nap and watched some tv. Went to 7pm class, standard Syllabus day stuff, then on the way back my backpack broke, came home to hang out and get rest for Tuesday classes.
Tuesday – Went to my first class, Standard Syllabus stuff, went to Bookstore to get a new backpack, came home to hang out. Rested and grabbed a light snack, then went to second class, Stand Syllabus stuff, came home and was done for day. Just watched tv and bummed around really.
Wednesday – Got up, went to classes (today I had lab class for MW lecture classes), and then came home. Roommate Nate took me to get a new car battery, installed that, then made a few errand runs to Target and Safeway (for food). Then just hung out, cooked an awesome Chicken Alfredo dinner (fried chicken in a lemon pepper alfredo sauce), and watched tv. Then bed for sleep.
Thursday – Got up for my classes, went to them, and chilled before my job interview. Wait what?! Yah, Wednesday night I got a call from Mike at the CSU Chico Meriam library regarding the job app I submitted way back at the beginning of Aug. So I went to the interview to chat with him, did a quick test deal, and bamm, landed me a job. Its cool, I work Mon mornings, and T and Th nights from 8 to midnight. And I get weekends off still, which is pretty cool. I had to let them know I needed every other weekend off to go back to San Jose to work, but I guess they work a set schedule for the semester (or year?), and I’ll be having every weekend off instead of a rotation. That gives me plenty of time to do homework and work on my website project. Yay, a job! Its only 10.5 hours a week, with is just fine with me. So theres the counter (good) to the car battery/backpack (bad) dealie earlier in the week. Ying and Yang.
Friday & Saturday – These two days get to be lumped together because they both consist of the same activities: nothing. Yup, I pretty just slept in for the better part of the day, showered to clean off and just hung out. I did do a Safeway run both days, with a Walgreens run on Saturday. Friday I also drove around town a while looking for the movie theaters, but couldnt find it. Ah well, another day.
So theres the first week in review. Not a whole lot happening so far, its a been a slow week just because everything is getting started. I am feeling more comfortable here in Chico though, and not as scared anymore as I first was. Next weekend I go home for Labor Day, so it’ll be good to see the girlfriend and friends and family again. I’ll catch you on the next update. Also, dont forget to come chat with me on Y!M (Yahoo!
